Skyla Manawa Temaipi 13/10/07 - 13/6/08

13.6.08 I dont know where to begin or even how to write this. Our beautiful little girl lost her fight today, Friday 13th June 2008 at 10:15am. Today she grew her angel wings and became the perfect angel. She was so strong and so brave. Skyla you were a true fighter hunny bun. You fought and fought right to the very end. Today you were 8mths old to the day. You arrested again darlin and they tried and tried to get you back but it was just too much for your little body to take. They tried for 40minutes honey but it was just too much for you. After that they stopped bagging and resusitation on you and then they gave you to me. You passed away in mummys arms. It was so hard but im just glad that you had your mummy there with you when you got your angel wings. We had 8mths with our beautiful girl. They were the best 8mths of our lives. We were so lucky to have had you in our lives. Mummy, daddy and Blake and all your family and friends will never ever forget you Skyla. You will be in our hearts forever. We loved you so much Skyla. Your at peace now darling. Spread your wings and fly.
I just want to thank everyone for all there love and support through out this. It really meant alot to all of us. thankyou.

I will update again soon with Skylas funeral arrangements once its all set into place.
Kristy, Joe and family

Bless your family and your sweet, beautiful baby. You were ALL so brave--it's just not fair. We lost our little angel to CDH at 5 months and we are still recovering many months later. Skyla and Andrew are playing together and they both feel wonderful--happy, active, and free of all the tubes and drugs. We are so, so sorry. Hang in there. Thoughts from a fellow CDH family in California.

Dear Kristy, Joe & Blake,

I am from Ottawa, Canada, and have been following your blog since the birth of Skyla.
I followed your journey through the many ups and downs.
I would check your blog every day for an update, with hopes that little Skyla would pull through the many obstacles that were thrown her way and to be able to go home where she belongs, and even though I live many, many miles away...and have never met you....your precious little angel has touched my very heart and soul.
I cried when I saw the very sad news.
I am very sorry for your loss, and send you all my deepest heartfelt sympathies.

From the above comments you can honestly say your little Skyla brought the world to tears. She also brought us hope, empathy, tolerance and admiration. She's amazing! I used to look at Wyatt's bad days and feel so sad for him and tell all the people who asked about him how grave his situation was. As soon as I found Skyla's page, that changed me. Instead of looking at Wyatt's suffering, I would instead look at the happiness that was in his eyes and appreciate the fight that he was putting up. Skyla always seemed happy and not fazed by her million and one obstacles. She seemed ready to conquer anything! Kristy - thank you for taking us on Skyla's journey. The world would have never known her if you didn't share it.

Kristy,

My heart is heavily burdened for you and your family today. Although I'm sure your loss is completely overwhelming, please know that your beautiful, charming daughter served great purpose in my life. Through Skyla's experience, you were able to offer me great hope when we found we were facing both the CDH and co-arc. When I couldn't find a bright spot in the world, I found it in Skyla. The Lord used you both in my life to allow me to expect healing when everyone else seemed very skeptical. You may not remember, but when you first emailed me, you told me not to worry about the heart surgery "it was no big deal" and that Skyla had done fine with it. I know why Skyla was so able to fight so hard for so long, you inspire great strength in people. I pray now that someone will inspire great strength and courage in you. I wish I had words to give you the kind of peace and comfort you gave me in one of my darkest times, but words don't seem strong enough to even attempt to soothe what is so broken. I believe only the presence of the Holy Spirit can ease such pain, so please know that you will be in my constant prayers. Skyla is free, happy, whole.....perfect. And when you have served your purpose, you'll hold her again.
